Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign unsettled Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
The Welsh winger's performances for Real this season have been heavily scrutinised, which has resulted in reports that he could return to the Premier League this summer.
He has been strongly linked with Manchester United, who tried to sign him from Southampton prior to his move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2007.
However, according to The Sun, City are in the market for an attacking midfielder with pace and have identified the 25-year-old as the ideal candidate.
Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Bale, but they are unlikely to be willing to pay Madrid's asking price.
