Liverpool look poised to sign Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illaramendi in a cut-price deal, according to reports.

Liverpool are close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has been transfer listed by Real and The Mirror claims that Liverpool are preparing an £8.5m bid for the player.

It is believed that Madrid have put a £10m valuation on Illaramendi, who has made 56 La Liga appearances in two seasons at the Bernabeu.

Illarramendi joined Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2013, for a fee of £23m.
