Bayern Munich have allegedly 'made significant progress' in their attempts to sign Alphonso Davies to a new contract amid interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich have reportedly 'made significant progress' in their attempts to sign Alphonso Davies to a new contract.

The Canada international's contract at Allianz Arena is due to expire next summer, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent months, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona all said to be keen on his services.

Real Madrid have long been considered as the favourites for the left-back, but a recent report claimed that Man United viewed the 24-year-old as their 'dream target'.

At one stage, it did appear that Davies would be leaving Bayern, with negotiations between the two parties over a fresh contract believed to have stalled.

However, according to Sky Deutschland, there has now been serious movement, with Bayern confident that they will be able to announce a fresh deal for the Canadian in the not too distant future.

The report claims that the discussions 'are well advanced' with a number of 'key financial details being clarified'.

The Canadian has again been a vital player for Bayern during the 2024-25 campaign, making 19 appearances in all competitions, contributing three assists in the process.

Davies made the move to the Allianz Arena from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019, and he has represented his current side on 214 occasions in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering 34 assists in the process.

The defender has won five Bundesliga titles, two German Cups and the Champions League during his time in Munich, and he will be bidding to help Vincent Kompany's side land silverware during the 2024-25 campaign.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund recently said that his club were 'confident' of signing Davies to a new deal.

"The confidence is there. It just makes me feel positive when I see him every day - how he comes from, how he plays, how much fun he has training and playing," said Freund.

"This system, the way we play football at the moment, suits him extremely well. He feels extremely comfortable. He feels good in Munich and is playing at a really high level at the moment."

Real Madrid, Man United forced to look elsewhere?

Real Madrid and Man United could now allegedly lock horns for another left-back, with Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez said to be a transfer target for both clubs.

Los Blancos are bidding to bring in a long-term option in that area of the field, with Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia potentially both being moved on next year.

Man United, meanwhile, have made signing a left-sided defender a priority for next year due to Luke Shaw's ongoing injury problems, with the Englishman once again on the sidelines.
