Manchester United are reportedly preparing to step up their pursuit of Declan Rice, with the West Ham United midfielder being identified as a leading transfer target for the club.
The Red Devils did not sign a new central midfielder in January despite a host of speculation but will allegedly prioritise improving in that area of the field ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Rice's performances for West Ham this season have led to a host of speculation, with Manchester City and Chelsea both believed to be keen to sign the England international this summer.
According to ESPN, the Hammers want in excess of £100m for the 23-year-old, who recently hinted that he wants to remain in London on a long-term basis.
The report, though, claims that Man United will focus their attention on signing a new midfielder this summer and view Rice as a leading target.
Recruitment meetings will allegedly be held each month with interim head coach Ralf Rangnick, who is expected to have a say on incomings when he takes on a consultancy role at the club this summer.
Rice, who has a contract at London Stadium until June 2024 with the option of an additional 12 months, has scored three times and registered four assists in 28 appearances for David Moyes's side this term.
