Manchester United reportedly remain keen on trying to secure a deal for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
For a number of months, the Argentina international has been heavily linked with Barcelona, who regard the player as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.
However, it remains unclear whether the Catalan giants can afford the 22-year-old's release clause, said to be in the region of £94m.
According to Sport, this has led to United retaining an interest in the attacker ahead of the next transfer window.
Although United are also keen on strengthening in other areas, they may not pass up on an opportunity to bring in another frontman.
While Barcelona prefer to offer players in part-exchange, United will likely be more willing to pay a fee closer to Martinez's release clause.
