Manchester United are reportedly considering signing a new central defender on loan during the January window.
Harry Maguire's recent hip problem has left the Red Devils short of numbers at the back, with Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe also currently on the sidelines.
Phil Jones was pressed into action alongside Victor Lindelof against Manchester City on Tuesday night, but the Englishman has struggled for form during the 2019-20 campaign.
According to the Manchester Evening News, despite Bailly and Tuanzebe being close to returns, the 20-time English champions are considering a loan move for a new centre-back.
The report does not indicate any potential targets for the club in that area of the field, though, with much seemingly depending on how long Maguire will be on the sidelines.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will be looking to overcome a three-game winless run in all competitions when they welcome Norwich City to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
