Dean Henderson is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract with Manchester United and could battle David de Gea for the club's number one goalkeeping spot next term.
The 23-year-old has spent each of the last two seasons on loan with Sheffield United, making 36 Premier League appearances during the 2019-20 campaign, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process.
Henderson is heading back to Old Trafford this summer, though, and according to Sky Sports News, he is on the verge of penning a new contract with the Red Devils in excess of £100,000 a week.
The report claims that the Englishman could now be given the chance to rival De Gea for the gloves next term, although another loan move away from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side has not been ruled out.
De Gea struggled for form during the latter stages of the 2019-20 season and made two high-profile errors in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
As many as seven Premier League teams are allegedly interested in loaning Henderson next term.
