Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly demanded that agent Jorge Mendes secure a move to Chelsea or Bayern Munich last summer.
The former Manchester United man split with the super agent last year, with the explosive interview with Piers Morgan being the final straw in their relationship.
Spanish outlet El Mundo reports that Ronaldo had given his long-term agent an ultimatum last summer as he sought desperately to leave the Red Devils in order to play in the Champions League.
"Bayern, Chelsea or we break up," the 37-year-old told Mendes, according to the report.
The agent had reportedly already expressed his disagreement with a number of Ronaldo's recent decisions, beginning with his Real Madrid exit in 2018.
Both Chelsea and Bayern are reported to have backed out of a deal for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner after he missed the start of United's pre-season campaign, which he later explained in the interview with Morgan was a result of his daughter's illness.
The 196-cap Portugal international's contract in Manchester was terminated after that interview, and the player has since moved to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia for a reported £175m a year, with that deal negotiated by close friend Ricky Regufe.
