Southampton are reportedly keen to strike a January loan deal for Manchester United defender Brandon Williams.
The Englishman is now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's third-choice left-back following the arrival of Alex Telles from Porto, with Luke Shaw also ahead of Williams in the pecking order.
The 20-year-old has been restricted to two starts in the EFL Cup this term, and Williams's only taste of Premier League action in the 2020-21 campaign came in United's 3-2 win at Southampton last month, where he was brought on for the final six minutes.
According to The Telegraph, the Saints are now hopeful of taking Williams on loan during the next transfer window, with Ralph Hasenhuttl keen to provide competition for Ryan Bertrand on the left-hand side of defence.
The report claims that Solskjaer blocked Williams's proposed move to the South Coast in the summer, but United could sanction a temporary exit in January in order for the youngster to get more regular first-team action.
Williams penned a new deal until 2024 in the summer in order to remain at Old Trafford, where he has made 41 appearances and scored one goal since making his debut last year.
