Project Restart: No positive results from latest round of Premier League testing

The Premier League records zero positive coronavirus results from the latest round of testing ahead of Project Restart.

The Premier League has recorded zero positive coronavirus results from the latest round of testing ahead of Project Restart.

Top-flight action is due to return on Wednesday, June 17 - exactly 100 days after the last Premier League match before the coronavirus pandemic brought play to a halt.

Those plans will only take place if government guidelines do not tighten, though, while the Premier League is carrying out regular extensive testing among clubs to ensure that there is not a flare-up within the football community.

The sixth round saw 1,195 players and staff tested, with none of those results coming back positive.

In total the Premier League has now carried out 6,274 tests, with just 13 of those - 0.2% - returning positive.

The news is another step towards elite-level football returning, with Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United and Manchester City vs. Arsenal first up on June 17.
