Manchester City full-back Fabian Delph hails his side's 2-1 victory over Manchester United as the "sweetest" win of their record-breaking run so far.

Manchester City full-back Fabian Delph has said that his side's 2-1 win over Manchester United in this afternoon's derby was the "sweetest" of their record-breaking run so far.

Goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi at Old Trafford earned Pep Guardiola's league leaders a 14th consecutive Premier League win, setting a new single-season record for the competition in the process.

However, Delph - who was partially to blame for United's equalising goal at the end of the first half - insists that it is too early to crown his side as champions-elect despite opening up an 11-point lead.

"It is the sweetest [win] of the lot. Derbies are always like this - hectic and end to end - but we stuck to it. I am going to celebrate this in [the changing room] in a minute," he told Sky Sports News.

"I am learning on the game, game by game. I anticipated him winning the header and he didn't. Thankfully I have teammates who can pull me out of the wars. They have done well for me today.

"It is far too early [to talk about the title]. We take each game as it comes. We are not looking in the past or future, just on the day."

City could become the first team in Premier League history to win 15 consecutive games when they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday night.
