Robin van Persie set to miss Manchester United's trip to QPR with ankle injury

Manchester United forward Robin van Persie is expected to miss the Premier League trip to QPR this weekend with an ankle injury, which opens the door for Radamel Falcao.

Robin van Persie is likely to miss Manchester United's game at Loftus Road this weekend with the ankle injury he picked up in Sunday's loss to Southampton.

Van Persie, 31, was forced off after an hour at Old Trafford, although the club is hopeful he will only have to miss one game, according to The Guardian. He was at training on Wednesday, and will aim to be fit for the FA Cup fourth-round tie at Cambridge United.

This opens the door for Radamel Falcao, who appeared on the verge of leaving Manchester United this week after being dropped for the game against Southampton in favour of youngster James Wilson.

Jorge Mendes, Falcao's agent, admitted earlier this week that he was unsure if the Colombian will still be at the club next year when his £6m loan deal from Monaco ends in the summer.
