Manuel Pellegrini: 'We will not replace Kevin De Bruyne'

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says that it is 'not the club's intention' to directly replace the injured Kevin De Bruyne in the transfer market this month.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that his club will not look to replace Kevin De Bruyne in the transfer market this month.

De Bruyne will be out of action "for around 10 weeks" after suffering ligament damage to his knee and ankle during Man City's League Cup semi-final against Everton on Wednesday.

It had been suggested that the injury would force Man City into the transfer market, but Pellegrini is confident that he can replace the Belgian international from within the current squad.

"It's not our intention to bring in anyone in. In some moments we couldn't play without Sergio [Aguero] or David [Silva] - now without Kevin," Pellegrini told reporters.

Man City will travel to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
