Garry Monk: 'Wilfried Bony sale to Manchester City is best for Swansea City'

Swansea City boss Garry Monk believes that the club's decision to sell Wilfried Bony to Manchester City was the "best" move for the Welsh outfit.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk believes that Wilfried Bony's departure to Manchester City was the right decision for the club.

The Ivory Coast international signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Premier League champions on Wednesday.

The Swans are expected to make a decent profit on Bony, who joined the Welsh club from Vitesse Arnhem for £12m in 2013 and was sold for a reported £25m fee, which could rise to £28m in add-ons.

"This decision was best for the player and best for the club," Monk told reporters. "You have to take a lot of things into consideration when these opportunities come up for players and from a club perspective.

"We always do the best for the club and we felt this was the right deal for us."

Bony scored 36 goals in 73 appearances for Swansea.
