Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he wants to coach Spain one day

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits that he would one day like to coach Spain, but is "so happy" at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that he has ambitions to coach the Spain national team.

The 46-year-old Catalan, who was in charge of Barcelona for four years, is in just his second season at City and is yet to win any silverware with the North-West outfit.

While speaking to Gary Lineker for the BBC's The Premier League Show, Guardiola insisted that he is content in Manchester, but would like to coach his nation at some point.

"I am so happy to be here. It will depend on the success that you have. At big clubs like Manchester City if you do not win, you cannot stay.

"[I would like to coach] Spain, I think. I would like to be a manager in the World Cup, the European [Championships]. I would like to feel it."

Guardiola, who has spoken in favour of holding a referendum over Catalan independence from Spain, criticised former club Barca for going ahead with a behind-closed-doors La Liga match over the weekend against the backdrop of popular protests.
