Good afternoon! It's around half an hour until kickoff at the Coface Arena where Mainz 05 and Eintracht Frankfurt will both be looking to get their Bundesliga campaigns back on track. The team news is already in, so let's take a look at the lineups.

MAINZ STARTING XI: Karius, Pospech, Noveski, Bell, Park, Geis, Zimling, Polter, Malli, Soto, Okazaki

FRANKFURT STARTING XI: Trapp, Russ, Oczipka, Bamba, Jung, Inui, Meier, Flum, Rode, Barnetta, Kadlec

MAINZ SUBSTITUTES: Mathenia, Svensson, Saller, Diaz, Moritz, Choupo-Moting, Parker

FRANKFURT SUBSTITUTES: Wiedwald, Djakpa, Celozzi, Rosenthal, Schrock, Joselu, Lakic

The big news for the home side is that top scorer Nicolai Muller misses out, having aggravated an ankle injury during training this week. Meanwhile Loris Karius starts is goal in place of the suspended Christian Wetklo.

It's a fairly familiar lineup for the visitors. Alexander Meier, who has been the club's leading scorer with seven goals this season, continues in midfield. Striker Vaclav Kadlec keeps his place in the starting lineup, despite having a quiet couple of weeks in front of goal.

Ahead of today's match, Frankfurt boss Armin Veh told reporters: "We're travelling to Mainz with a really heavy sack on our backs. We need something to celebrate, that's important. What's important is that we focus on ourselves and don't concern ourselves too much with the opponents. We need to do what we know we can do."

Despite Frankfurt's recent form, Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel is expecting a tough tie this afternoon: "What makes them dangerous is the way they can play good football regardless of negative experiences. They have a great deal of quality, extremely dangerous attackers and they have developed a style which clearly bears the hallmark of Armin Veh."

This fixture last season ended in a goalless draw, while Mainz were victorious when they travelled to Frankfurt last season, despite finishing the game with 10 men. Frankfurt have not beaten today's opponents since December 2010.

PREDICTION! With just a couple of minutes until kickoff, it's time for the prediction. Mainz have more points on the board, and have won more recently, they are without several key players so I can see Frankfurt getting a draw this afternoon. I'm going for 1-1.

The players come out of the tunnel into a packed Coface Arena ready for kickoff.

Frankfurt get the match underway.

OFF THE BAR! Frankfurt are on the attack quickly, forcing a corner inside the opening minuite, which is punched away by Karius. They win another moments later, which Meier rises high to head towards the target, but it's just kept out by the crossbar. The visitors have made a strong start against their rivals this afternoon.

The visitors are continuing to control the possession but, have slowed down the tempo a little, as they look to keep the ball in midfield, before Meier wins another corner. Russ comes forward to try to nod in the opener, but Mainz spot the danger, and quickly clear the ball.

CHANCE! Mainz have their first chance of the game as Zimling slides the ball in for Pospech, who makes a brilliant run, but forces his shot just wide from close range

CHANCE! Frankfurt have yet another corner, and this time it's Kadlec who has the chance, but he stumbles while jumping for the header, allowed Karius to clear the ball off the line. Mainz have been living dangerously so far.

After a rather frantic opening spell, both teams look to be slowing the pace down somewhat, as they both battle for possession in midfield. Mainz attempt to force an attacking move, but Russ is on hand to make an important block for the visitors.

BOOKING! Johannes Geis picks up the game's first yellow card for clattering into Takashi Inui.

CHANCE! Mainz seem to winning the battle in midfield, and manage to force their way forwards with a deep, looping ball from Polter, which is picked up by Malli, but he tries to rush his shot, and isn't in complete control of the ball when he unleashes his effort, sending it wide of the left post.

CHANCE! Frankfurt immediately apply pressure down the other end as Meier delivers the ball to Rode, who looks to hit it on the half-volley inside the Mainz area, but his effort was always going high. Both sides are creating plenty of chances, but the finishing has been poor so far.

Russ concedes a free kick when he brings down Park Joo-Ho around 25 yards out. The midfielder chips the ball into the box, and it's picked up by Noveski, but his shot lacks power, and is easily taken by Trapp.

CHANCE! Mainz are denied by the superb reactions of Trapp, as Okazaki beats the offside trap to burst into the box, collecting a long pass forward from Pospech, but the Frankfurt keeper keeps his cool to gather the shot.

Frankfurt manage to put an end to their opponent's strong spell, bursting down the other end of the pitch before forcing a throw in. Russ launches it long, but it's cleared by Polter. Frankfurt win the ball back, but Inui's effort is wide. It's end-to-end stuff at the moment, with both side's desperately seeking the opening goal.

CHANCE! Mainz are back on the ball and Malli carves his way through the Frankfurt defence, but is finish is deflected behind for a corner. The visitors initially clear, but it drops to Pospech on the edge of the box, who lashes it towards goal, but Trapp just manages to tip it over at full stretch.

PENALTY APPEAL! Frankfurt are livid with the referee after Pospech and Inui tangle in the penalty area, resulting in the Frankfurt midfielder hitting the deck. His teammates immediately look to the officials for a spot kick, but he turns them away. There was definitely contact, but whether or not it was enough to bring down Inui is debatable.

After a quiet couple of minutes, Zimling gives away a free kick, but Sebastian Rode's delivery fails to find his teammates up front. Frankfurt quickly win the ball back though.

Barnetta finds Inui from a throw in, and times his pass forward to Jung is timed to perfection, but the defender's first touch isn't great and Mainz manage to clear the danger. Frankfurt pin them back though as they look to move out of their own half, eventually winning a free kick 20 yards outs when Malli brings down Jung.

BOOKING! Elkin Soto slides into the back of Barnetta, earning his the second booking of the game.

The match has become a bit scrappy as half time approaches, but Frankfurt are caught out on the break, as Polter blasts the ball forward to Melli, but once again the end product is wide. Neither side have had any problems creating chances, but the accuracy in front of goal has been an issue.

HALF TIME: Mainz 05 0-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

So lots of chances but no goals in the first 45 minutes. Alexander Meier will be disappointed not to have put the visitors ahead when his header from a corner struck the crossbar early on, but Mainz will be frustrated by the impressive performance from Kevin Trapp in the Frankfurt goal.

Let's take a look at some of the stats from the first half. Frankfurt created eight chances to Mainz's seven, but none of the visitors' attempts were on target, while Trapp had to make three saves. Frankfurt dominated the possession though, seeing 70% of the ball.

As with any match between local rivals, there were some rash challenges with emotions running high. Mainz picked up two yellow cards, having committed 11 fouls in the first half.

Right then, here come the players ready for the second half. Frankfurt are quickly back out, but the home side take their time, arriving a couple of minutes later.

Mainz get the second half underway.

CHANCE! Trapp is called upon just seconds after the restart, as Polter looks to cross the ball in for Mainz, but he decides to take on the shot himself, only to smash it straight at the Frankfurt stopper.

BOOKING! Johannes Flum is booked for a foul on Soto, becoming the first Frankfurt player to go into the book.

CHANCE! Karius makes his first save of the match as Tranquillo Barnetta looks to drill the ball in from the edge of the box, before also blocking the rebound from the midfielder. That will settle any lingering nerves that the 20-year-old stand-in keeper had.

CHANCE! Frankfurt are peppering the Mainz goal early in this half, as Kadlec tests Karius, but the young keeper manages to guide it behind for a corner, which is swiftly cleared by the hosts.

Mainz try to put a stop to Frankfurt's impressive spell, as Niki Zimling races down the other end looking to catch their opponents out on the counter attack. He looks to pass to Okazaki, but the midfielder is offside. Okazaki tries to deliver it back in himself moments later, but Frankfurt's back four hold firm.

As both teams are beginning to realise that one goal could be enough this afternoon, the play has started to get rather scrappy, with lots of throw ins and sliding tackles, with neither side really taking control of the match.

SUB! Maxim Choupo-Moting comes on in place of Niki Zimling.

Malli tries to find the target from distance, launching the ball from just outside the box following some create play from Pospech, but his effort is blocked.

CHANCE! Frankfurt win a corner when Geis puts it behind, but Inui's effort is saved by Karius, giving the visitors another corner, which is well cleared. The hosts look to go on the counter again, which is when they have looked their strongest this afternoon, but it comes to nothing.

BOOKING! Stefan Bell is cautioned for bringing down Sebastian Rode. It also gives the visitors a free kick in a good position, but Karius manages to claim it again.

It seems that no matter how many chances either side get, neither can find a goal. Park wins a free kick for the hosts, and curls is into the box, allowing Mainz to win a corner, but Soto scuffs his finish. The midfielder appears to have injured himself in the process.

CHANCE! Trapp pulls off yet another stunning save to keep Frankfurt on level terms. Polter picked up a well-timed ball forward on the edge of the box, before creating himself some space in the box, but the Frankfurt keeper jumped high to make the stop.

SUB! Shawn Parker comes off the bench in place on Yunus Malli for the hosts.

SUB! Meanwhile, the visitors make their first change of the game, switching Takashi Inui for Jan Rosenthal.

Frankfurt win a free kick near the corner flag, and Barnetta attempts an ambitious delivery, looking directly for goal, but his effort goes straight into the side netting.

Frankfurt win yet another free kick, as Mainz continue their physical approach. However, his teammates are penalised for some shoving inside the penalty area, so the chance is wasted.

SUB! The hosts make their final change as Benedikt Saller replaces Shinji Okazaki. There's immediate concern as Polter clashes heads with Meier, but they're both ok to continue.

BOOKING! Maxim Choupa-Moting is shown a yellow card for trying to hold back Barnetta.

Alexander Meier tries to chip the ball in from just outside the area, but it finishes well wide. The home side try to counter again, but they can't get the numbers forward in time to support Pospech's run.

CHANCE! Mainz win a corner, which Frankfurt think they've cleared, but Soto picks it up around 20 yards out, and drills it towards goal, but it comfortably clears the crossbar.

GOAL! Mainz 1-0 Frankfurt (Choupo-Moting)

Substitute Maxim Choupo-Moting might just have clinched all three points for the hosts, as he rises high on the far post to head in from a superbly timed cross by Pospech. It was a superbly executed header, leaving Trapp no chance in the Frankfurt goal.

Frankfurt will have three minutes of stoppage time to try and force an equaliser.

FULL TIME: Mainz 05 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

In the end, Frankfurt couldn't rally to give themselves a chance for a late equaliser. It will be a bitter blow for the visitors, who came close the opening the scoring early on in both halves.

That's all from this match, but stick around for coverage of Stuttgart's trip to Freiburg, which gets underway shortly. Until then, thanks for joining me this afternoon, goodbye.
