Liverpool and Manchester City have reportedly identified Mechelen prospect Aster Vranckx as a potential transfer target.
While both clubs are expected to enter the market for established players later in 2020, the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic may lead to a change in focus at some clubs.
According to The Mirror, the two Premier League giants have taken an interest in 17-year-old Vranckx.
The report claims that the pair have already sent scouts to assess the progress of the teenager, who is part of the first-team squad at the Belgian outfit.
Vranckx contributed one goal and two assists from his nine appearances before the nation's top flight was suspended last month.
The midfielder has just over two years remaining on his Mechelen contract.
