Liverpool 'offer Andy Carroll return to Anfield'

Liverpool are reportedly willing to offer Andy Carroll a return to Anfield, but the club are not promising first-team football to the striker.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will reportedly inform striker Andy Carroll that he does have a future at Anfield, but only as a squad player.

The 24-year-old was offloaded in the summer on a season-long loan deal to West Ham United due to the forward's inability to fit into Rodgers's style of play.

While the Hammers are thought to be open to keeping Carroll, it is understood that Rodgers will hold talks with the striker over the possibility of staying on Merseyside and fighting for his place, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.

Despite Liverpool's offer, it is believed that Carroll's former club Newcastle United, which he left for the Reds in 2011 for £35m, could be interested in launching a bid for the frontman in the summer.
