A report claims that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will make a move in January to sign Bafetimbi Gomis from Lyon.

Premier League outfit Liverpool are reportedly eager to add Bafetimbi Gomis to their squad during the January transfer window.

A foot injury suffered by Fabio Borini earlier this season has left Luis Suarez as the only senior striker available to manager Brendan Rodgers.

As a result, Rodgers is said to have instructed his scouting team to draw up a list of centre-forwards who could bolster his options.

Having assessed a number of targets, Rodgers believes that France international Gomis is the ideal candidate, according to The Sun.

The report has also claimed a Liverpool scout has watched the Lyon frontman in action against Marseille during the week.
