Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards have reportedly held a meeting to discuss a possible return for Philippe Coutinho during this summer's transfer window.
Coutinho is currently on loan from Barcelona at Bayern Munich, who have the option to sign the Brazil international on a permanent deal ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
The German champions are allegedly unlikely to exercise the option, though, meaning that the 27-year-old will return to Barca at the end of the season.
Coutinho continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Chelsea both thought to be keeping a close eye on developments.
However, according to The Mirror, Klopp and Edwards recently discussed a potential move for the South American during this summer's transfer window.
Coutinho scored 54 times in 201 appearances for Liverpool between 2013 and 2018 before joining Barca, where he has struggled to settle since a £142m move.
