Liverpool have two players sent off as they slump to a 4-0 defeat away at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur benefited from Liverpool having two players sent off at White Hart Lane this afternoon, recording a 4-0 victory over their Merseyside opponents.

Spurs should have taken the lead as early as the third minute, but Emmanuel Adebayor scuffed his shot wide from close range.

However, just five minutes later the home side did go in front. Reported Chelsea target Luka Modric collected possession on the edge of the area before curling the ball into the top right hand corner of the net.

Liverpool's first dismissal of the afternoon came in the 27th when Charlie Adam was handed his second caution for a foul on Scott Parker.

Martin Skrtel was next to be handed his marching orders, receiving two yellow cards for fouls on Gareth Bale in the 67th minute.

Strike duo Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor captialised on Spurs' numerical advantage, with the latter helping himself to two goals to seal the win.
