Georginio Wijnaldum: 'I've joined Liverpool to win trophies'

New Liverpool signing Georginio Wijnaldum sets his sights on helping the club to win silverware having put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Anfield.

New Liverpool signing Georginio Wijnaldum has set his sights on helping the club to win silverware.

The 25-year-old completed his move from Newcastle United earlier today, signing a five-year contract at Anfield in a deal thought to be worth around £25m.

Wijnaldum has already outlined what he wants to achieve during his time at the club, and revealed that manager Jurgen Klopp played a big part in him joining the Merseyside outfit.

"Liverpool is a club with a great history, but you want to get more history and greater history, and you want to be part of that," he told the club's official website.

"That's what I want. I've come here to win something, and I'm going to do everything to make it happen. I look forward to working with [Klopp]. I've have met him one time.

"We had a conversation, it was a good conversation because after the conversation I wanted to sign for Liverpool. He convinced me to come to the club."

Wijnaldum is Liverpool's seventh signing of the summer.
