Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is reportedly set to be named as the new manager of Everton.
The 60-year-old has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park, after talks with Nuno Espirito Santo seemed to come to a halt.
Benitez is believed to be keen to take on the challenge at Everton, and win over the supporters who were angered by comments he made in 2007 when he described the Toffees as a small club.
According to BBC Sport, Everton have been determined to search the field before appointing a new manager and they have not rushed into any decision.
Benitez would become the first manager to have been in charge of both Merseyside clubs, after he won the Champions League and the FA Cup with the Reds across Stanley Park.
The Spaniard last managed in the Premier League with Newcastle United in 2019 before departing for Chinese Super League side Dalian Professional.
