Everton are reportedly lining up a £17m offer to Sporting Lisbon for 22-year-old midfielder Matheus Nunes, who can play in a deeper midfield role or on the right.

Everton have reportedly set their sights on signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes, who is valued at around £17m.

During the 2020-21 campaign, the 22-year-old scored three goals and provided as many assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Portuguese outfit.

The Toffees are yet to announce Carlo Ancelotti's successor but it is believed that a deal for former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo is close, and Nunes could be his first signing at the club.

According to the Daily Star, Everton will be required to pay an initial fee of £15.45m and certain bonuses will increase that figure to a maximum of £17.17m.

The Brazilian still has four years left on his current deal at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, after initially joining the club's Under-23 side in 2019 from Estoril Praia.

Since breaking into the first team in 2020, Nunes has gone on to make 49 appearances for the club, with all three of his goals coming during the just-completed season.
