Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has revealed that he felt like a "caged lion" when he was left out of the team by former manager Brendan Rodgers in the early stages of the season.
The 25-year-old was not selected for the Reds' first five games of the season, but instead of looking elsewhere for first-team football, the defender signed a new contract last month.
"Let's say that during the short period when I was not playing, I was like a little caged lion who had not been fed for a while, and when you open the door, he charges," The Mirror quotes Sakho as saying.
The former Paris Saint-Germain player will have to prove himself to the club's new manager after Rodgers was sacked on Sunday.
Widespread reports have claimed that Liverpool hope to appoint former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp by the end of the week.
