Mark Lawrenson calls for Divock Origi return to Liverpool

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson calls for the club to recall Belgium striker Divock Origi from his loan spell with Lille when the transfer window reopens.

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has called for the club to bring Divock Origi to Anfield in the next transfer window.

The Belgium international, who is on a season-long loan deal with Lille, admitted earlier this week that he wanted to join his new side sooner rather than later.

Origi signed for the Reds for around £10m in the summer, and Lawrenson thinks that the forward should be recalled from France as soon as possible.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "I was intrigued to read the comments from Divock Origi that he would be happy to move to Liverpool in the New Year.

"I'm not surprised. His current club Lille aren't doing very well at the moment. And his comments clearly tell us he believes he would have a chance of getting into the Liverpool first team this season.

"If I was Liverpool, I would investigate whether it was possible to take the teenager on in January."

Liverpool resume their Premier League campaign when they travel to Crystal Palace after the international break.
