Steven Gerrard: 'Liverpool showed title credentials'

Steven Gerrard says that Liverpool flashed their title credentials by defeating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Steven Gerrard believes that Liverpool showed their title credentials by defeating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Gerrard converted from the spot in either half before Luis Suarez struck in the final six minutes to cap the Reds' victory over the reigning Premier League champions.

As a result, Brendan Rodgers's men move second in the standings, four points adrift of leaders Chelsea with a game in hand.

"It's a fantastic day personally but we came here to win the game," he told reporters.

"We'll enjoy tonight but we need to move on quickly. We've shown today we're genuine contenders and we'll fight to the end."

The Merseyside outfit travel to South Wales for a clash with Cardiff City next Saturday.
