Steven Gerrard: I was "too cocky"

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits that his missed penalty in the 3-0 win over Manchester United today was borne out of being "too cocky".

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that his missed penalty in the 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford today was borne out of being "too cocky".

Gerrard had already converted two penalties to give the Reds a 2-0 lead but failed to secure his hat-trick by watching his third attempt cannon off the post.

"I maybe got a bit cocky with the last penalty but scored the two that mattered most," he told reporters.

Luis Suarez added a third for the Merseyside outfit with six minutes remaining as Brendan Rodgers's men moved four points behind leaders Chelsea in the Premier League with a game in hand.
