Liverpool's Emre Can out for four to six weeks with ruptured ankle ligaments

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is ruled out for four to six weeks with ruptured ankle ligaments.

Liverpool have confirmed that midfielder Emre Can will be sidelined for the next four to six weeks with ruptured ankle ligaments.

The German international limped off the pitch with 10 minutes to go in Thursday night's dramatic Europa League quarter-final win over Borussia Dortmund at Anfield.

Can, who left the stadium on crutches while wearing a protective boot, is believed to have undergone a scan on Friday and the club's official website confirmed the outcome today.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule Can out for the rest of the season, but he will miss a crucial semi-final tie against Villarreal in the Europa League.

Should Liverpool reach the final of the competition, Can could be fit to play in time for the May 18 showdown in Basel.
