West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans reportedly agrees to join Leicester City in a deal said to be worth £3.5m.

Leicester City have reportedly won the race to sign West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans.

Earlier this season, it was reported that Evans had a relegation release clause of £3m in his contract, which has now been activated due to the Baggies failing to remain in the Premier League.

A number of clubs have held an interest in the Northern Ireland international over the past 12 months - including Manchester City - but according to Sky Sports News, Evans has opted to make the switch to Leicester.

The report claims that the two teams have come to an agreement where the Foxes will pay the transfer fee in two instalments and an official announcement is expected in the near future.

Evans has spent the last three seasons at The Hawthorns, making a total of 96 appearances in all competitions.

Leicester are in the market for defenders this summer, with Porto's Ricardo Pereira having already been brought in at right-back and Evans acting as a replacement for the outgoing Robert Huth.
