Sam Byram in talks over new Leeds United deal

Leeds United midfielder Sam Byram reportedly re-opens talks with the club over a new contract, despite rumours of interest from Premier League clubs.

Leeds United and Sam Byram are reportedly back in talks about extending the midfielder's contract amid speculation of a move away from Elland Road.

Newcastle United and Everton are among the Premier League clubs allegedly interested in signing the 21-year-old, with the Yorkshire Evening Post claiming that Magpies assistant manager Ian Cathro and head scout Graham Carr watched the England Under-20 international against Burnley at the weekend.

Byram is in the final year of his deal after failing to agree terms on an extension with a reduced weekly wage last season, but the paper reports that he is understood to have informed Leeds that he is not looking for a move away this summer and re-entered discussions with the club.

Byram is the longest-serving player in the Leeds squad and made his 100th appearance for the club against Derby County last season, and manager Uwe Rosler last month insisted that he was not for sale.
