Leeds United manager David Hockaday has admitted that defender Gaetano Berardi must learn from his dismissal against Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night.
Berardi, who signed for the Championship outfit in the summer, was sent off in the closing stages at Elland Road for a waist-high challenge on an Accrington player, and Hockaday had no complaints with the referee's decision to give the Swiss international a red card.
The 56-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I am disappointed in him and for him because his tackle was reckless.
"It was dangerous play and he has to learn. He got tired and when that happened, he made a poor decision. He has been punished for it, quite rightly."
Two goals from Souleymane Doukara ensured that Leeds progressed through the League Cup tie.
