Half-Time Report: Watford in control against Leeds United

Watford lead 2-0 against Leeds United at half time in their Championship encounter at Vicarage Road.

Watford are on course for a vital win in their quest to sneak a Championship playoff place, thanks to first-half headers from Almen Abdi and Ikechi Anya against Leeds United.

The Swiss midfielder rose highest on nine minutes to head Anya's cross beyond the reach of Jack Butland to the delight of the Vicarage Road crowd.

In truth, the Hornets could have taken the lead earlier when the Whites defence needed to be alert to block Marco Faraoni's shot as Watford started the brighter.

Leeds looked to respond, but only Ross McCormack could trouble Manuel Almunia's goal with a shot from distance.

Just after the half-hour mark, Watford doubled their advantage when Anya headed Faraoni's cross beyond the helpless Butland as the hosts seized control.
