Hamburg's Rafael van der Vaart facing injury spell

Rafael van der Vaart could be sidelined for up to four weeks with ankle ligament damage.

Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart could be out of action for up to four weeks with ankle ligament damage.

The 30-year-old picked up the injury during the Netherlands' goalless draw with Colombia in a friendly international on Tuesday.

A medical scan carried out on Wednesday revealed that Van der Vaart has torn ligaments in his right ankle and will definitely be out of Hamburg's Bundesliga clash against Wolfsburg away from home on Sunday.

Hamburg are currently 14th in the league table with 12 points from as many matches.
