Getafe 1-0 Real Mallorca

Getafe end Mallorca's unbeaten start to the La Liga season with a 1-0 home win over their 10-man opponents.

Getafe pulled off a surprise result in La Liga by beating previously-unbeaten Real Mallorca 1-0 tonight.

The high-flying visitors had picked up 11 points from their opening five matches, while Getafe sat second from bottom prior to kickoff.

Mallorca nearly opened the scoring after just five minutes, but Tomer Hemed struck the post with a powerful effort from outside of the box.

However, they were dealt a costly blow soon after when defender Ximo Navarro was sent off for a challenge on Diego Castro.

The soft dismissal angered Mallorca, who soon found themselves on the back foot as Abdel Barrada tested goalkeeper Dudu Aouate with a low strike.

It took just four minutes of the second period for Getafe to capitalise on their numerical advantage as Castro smashed the ball home from close range.

From then on, it was only ever Getafe who threatened to add to the scoring as Barrada, Alvaro Vazquez and Angel Lafita all went close to adding a second.
