Martin Jol: 'Fulham need to beat lesser sides'

Fulham boss Martin Jol insists that his side need to make sure that they take points from sides outside of the top eight to ensure Premier League survival.

Fulham boss Martin Jol has insisted that his side need to take points off the Premier League clubs outside the top eight.

The London outfit have been in poor form this season and could slip into the relegation zone after Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.

"I think we'll be fine," Jol told reporters. "We have to suffer during these games. There are the top sides and then maybe outside the top seven or eight, they are not better than us. Those are the games when we have to get results.

"I think you have to be an expert if you are in the bottom four or five to keep teams up and I don't think there are a lot of experts. Every manager in every team in the bottom six or seven has to keep fighting.

"We are still up for the fight. We do everything in training and then we make the same mistakes. It was very frustrating, not only for the fans but for me and the team. I've got ambition and a mentality to win."

Fulham are currently 17th in the Premier League table with 10 points from their first 11 games.
