Fenerbahce forward Robin van Persie has revealed that he suffered a "little tear" to his eyelid on Sunday night, but has not suffered any lasting damage to his eye.
The 33-year-old scored the opening goal in Fenerbahce's 3-1 win over Akhisar, but was stretchered off in the 37th minute of the league match after taking a blow to his eye in a collision with an opponent.
Rumours on social media suggested that the former Netherlands international could lose sight in his left eye, which was heavily bandaged as the striker left the field, but Fenerbahce were quick to play down the seriousness of the incident.
Van Persie has now taken to social media to thank his well-wishers and the medical staff that treated him, in addition to confirming that his actual eye is unharmed.
