Everton boss Sam Allardyce has insisted that the Toffees have done 'all they can' to sign Besiktas forward Cenk Tosun.
Tosun, 26, has been strongly linked with a move to Goodison Park in recent days, with the Merseyside club believed to be desperate to secure a deal in the early stages of the January transfer window.
Allardyce was questioned on the topic following his team's 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on New Year's Day.
The former England manager admitted that his club are desperate to sign the Turkey international, but refused to confirm whether the deal had been completed.
"We have done all we can with Cenk Tosun. Whether that's enough, time will tell in the next 24 hours," Allardyce told Sky Sports News.
Tosun, who is believed to be valued in the region of £30m, has scored 14 times in all competitions for Besiktas this season.
