Roberto Martinez hopes Leighton Baines will be fit in time for Manchester City

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that he hopes full-back Leighton Baines will return in time to face Premier League champions Manchester City.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that Leighton Baines should be fit in time to feature against Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.

The England full-back recently picked up a knock in the Toffees' defeat to Hull City and had to sit out of his side's 1-1 FA Cup third-round draw to West Ham United.

"I don't expect Leighton to be out for more than than two or three days. It would have been a huge, huge risk for Leighton to play against West Ham, because he had a knock against Hull," said Martinez, according to ESPN.

"I hope he can be fit for the weekend. He wanted to play, but I hope now that he can be fit for the weekend."

Everton currently occupy 13th position in the Premier League table, with 21 points from 20 games this season.
