Late winner sends Everton through

An injury time winner from John Heitinga gives Everton a 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup fourth round.

Everton have secured a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup, beating Bolton Wanderers 2-1 thanks to a injury-time winner.

The Toffees made a positive start to the game when Victor Anichebe burst down the left and squared it to Nikica Jelavic, but Bolton cleared just in time.

Kevin Mirallas was forced off with an injury after just 17 minutes and replaced by Magaye Gueye.

Everton then took the lead on 18 minutes after Anichebe's strike deflected off Steven Pienaar to make it 1-0.

Bolton began to ease into the game after going a goal down and soon managed to find an equaliser through Marvin Sordell, who neatly finished at the front post on 27 minutes.

The home side came close to taking the lead soon after through Darren Pratley's effort, but Tim Howard was on hand to make the save.

Gueye crossed for Anichebe as the first half drew to a close, but the Nigerian could not direct his header towards goal.

Marcos Alonso came close on 55 minutes, though his 25-yard effort was palmed away well by Howard.

Pienaar weaved in from the left-hand side on 70 minutes before firing towards goal, but Andy Lonergan denied the South African with a fine save.

Everton struck an injury time winner through John Heitinga, who lashed home from a corner to make it 2-1.
