Espanyol have sacked coach Sergio Gonzalez after a run of one win in seven games.
Gonzalez was informed of the decision as he reported for training on Monday afternoon, two days after the 1-0 defeat at Celta Vigo.
The former Deportivo La Coruna midfielder moved into management in 2013 as assistant at Espanyol B before landing the job at the helm of the first team a year later. In his first season in charge, Gonzalez led the Barcelona side to a 10th-place finish but leaves the team three points from the drop zone in 12th.
Former player Constantin Galca has been installed as the favourite to replace Gonzalez at Estadi Cornella-El Prat.
