England's temporary manager Stuart Pearce has admitted that he has an idea about who he wants to captain the Three Lions against Holland next week.
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has been the favourite to land the captaincy following John Terry's separation from the armband earlier this month.
Pearce has included the Reds midfielder in the England squad, which has prompted suggestions that the 31-year-old will lead the national side at Wembley next Wednesday.
"I'll pick a captain once the group are together," said Pearce. "I'll look at the dynamics of the group.
"I've got my own ideas on who is respected by each of the players and respected by myself and I'll pick a captain accordingly, and that will be announced nearer match time."
The England Under-21s coach also confirmed that he is available to take the Three Lions to the European Championships this summer, if called upon.
