Burnley's Danny Ings named in England Under-21 squad

England Under-21 manager Gareth Southgate calls up Danny Ings into the squad to face San Marino and Lithuania in their European qualifiers next week.

Burnley striker Danny Ings has been called into the England Under-21 squad for next week's European qualifiers against San Marino and Lithuania.

The 21-year-old has been chosen by manager Gareth Southgate following a positive start to the Championship season, while Blackpool's Thomas Ince has also been included.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling is handed a place in the setup, along with Ravel Morrison, who has impressed for West Ham United in the early stages of the 2013-14 campaign.

The Young Lions travel to San Marino on October 10 and welcome Lithuania to Ipswich five days later.

England Under-21 squad:

Bond (Watford), Butland (Barnsley, on loan from Stoke City), Long (Sheffield United).

Dier (Sporting Lisbon), Jenkinson (Arsenal), Keane (Manchester United), Robinson (Blackpool, on loan from Liverpool), Shaw (Southampton), Stones (Everton); Carroll (QPR, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur), Chalobah (Nottingham Forest, on loan from Chelsea), Hughes (Derby County), Morrison (West Ham United), Ward-Prowse (Southampton).
