David Beckham wants home-grown England manager

David Beckham believes that the man to replace Fabio Capello as England manager should be English.

David Beckham believes that the next manager of the England national team should be English.

Current boss Fabio Capello will step down from the role at the end of the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.

"We haven't had those options in the last few years so, you know, we've had a manager that's been successful all over the world in Fabio Capello," Beckham told BBC Sport.

"But going forward, every Englishman would want an English manager."

Only six of the twenty managers in the Premier League are Englishmen.

Tottenham's Harry Redknapp has been linked with the role in the past, while Stuart Pearce is also a candidate after he was named manager of the Great Britain Olympic football team.

Beckham's last appearance for England was against Belarus in October 2009.

The 36-year-old currently plays for Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles Galaxy.
