Fran Escriba 'not surprised' by Villarreal form

Elche manager Fran Escriba praises Villarreal for their strong start to the season.

Elche manager Fran Escriba has praised the performances of fellow newly-promoted outfit Villarreal this season.

The pair, who were both promoted to La Liga from the Segunda Division last season, clash in the league this evening.

"It's not a surprise to see Villarreal having a good season," he told reporters at a press conference. "Villarreal have a good squad and have also done well in the transfer market.

"They've kept the same coach and the same block of players from last season. I think it's normal to see them so high in the table."

The Yellow Submarine currently sit fourth in the division, while Elche are 13th.
