Southampton notched up their 11th win of the season by edging out a resilient Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon.
The game looked sewn up for the visiting Saints at half-time as they took a two-goal lead to the dressing room thanks to goals from Richard Chaplow and Adam Lallana.
Lukas Jutkiewicz pulled one back for the Sky Blues two minutes into the second period before substitute Clive Platt levelled the scores with 20 minutes remaining.
However, league leaders Southampton closed the game out seven minutes later through Brazilian midfielder Guly do Prado, before Steve de Ridder sealed the points in the 85th minute.
Nigel Adkins's side remain five clear of West Ham, while Coventry drop one place to 23rd.
