Chivas USA came from behind to defeat the Colorado Rapids 2-1 in their MLS clash on Saturday.
The visitors tested Dan Kennedy in the opening seconds of the game as Charles Eloundou let fly from distance, but the keeper managed to hold his low effort with ease.
Colorado did beat Kennedy in the 30th minute when Eloundou released the run of John Neeskens in the box and the midfielder slotted the ball past the keeper at the near post with a neat finish.
The Rapids pressed again just before the break when Dillon Powers teed up Eloundou, but the striker failed to put any power behind his shot and Kennedy was able to make the stop.
After the break, Chivas managed to find an equaliser when substitute Kristopher Tyrpak weaved his way through three Colorado defenders before poking an effort past the on-rushing Clint Irwin.
Both teams tried to find a winner, but neither could create the quality needed in the final third with time running out.
However, the home side produced the winning goal in the 85th minute when Akira Kaji raided down the right and lifted a pinpoint cross for Felix Borja to head past Irwin from close range.
