Chievo see off Udinese

Chievo come from behind to get the better of Udinese 2-1 in Verona in Serie A.

Chievo have come from behind to defeat Udinese 2-1 at home in Serie A.

Maicosuel pounced to give the visitors the lead with barely a minute on a clock, drilling a right-footed shot beyond Christian Puggioni from just inside the six-yard area.

Chievo responded immediately, however, when Nicolas Frey's good play found Sergio Pellissier, who made no mistake with his drive into the net.

The pace of the match carried on towards the midway point of the first half, with both teams trading blows.

Chievo's Alessio Sestu forced a save from Ivan Kelava, before Andrea Lazzari ran forward but saw his shot blocked.

However, the home side took the lead five minutes before half time when Luca Rigoni smartly drove the ball into the top right-hand corner from around 20 yards out.

The second half began with Udinese on top with a succession of shots that missed the target.

Antonio Di Natale went close but Puggioni was equal to his shot and managed to get down low to make the save.

Dusan Basta then hit the bar as the away team came within inches of grabbing an equaliser.
