Udinese edge Parma for first win

Udinese score two late goals to make sure of their first win in Serie A this season - a 3-1 success over Parma.

Udinese have survived a late Parma rally to earn their first win of the Serie A season, with Francesco Guidolin's side recording a morale-boosting 3-1 success.

Parma made a slow start and gifted the hosts an early goal after 11 minutes when Mattia Cassani's deflected clearance fell to Emmanuel Badu, who gladly collected to break the deadlock.

Luis Muriel then hit the top of the crossbar from distance, before Amauri gave Parma hope at the end other end when his downward header bounced back off the woodwork.

Antonio Di Natale then drove wide, but 20 minutes from time Udinese's lead was extended as Thomas Heurtaux scrambled home from close range.

Parma got a late lifeline when Antonio Cassano headed home his first for the club at the back post, but as the visitors pushed for a late equaliser Udinese were awarded a penalty at the other end.

Pedro Mendes was harshly judged to have fouled Andrea Lazzari inside the area, with Muriel smashing home the spot kick to make three points safe for Guidolin's men.
