Marco van Ginkel to open talks with Chelsea

Midfielder Marco van Ginkel will open talks with Chelsea after being left out of their 18-man squad to face Burnley on Monday evening.

Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel was unhappy after being left out of the club's squad to play Burnley on Monday evening, according to the player's agent.

Van Ginkel was one of a number of names who was excluded from the 18-man group, but despite insisting that the Dutch international is prepared to fight for his place, representative Karel Jansen wants showdown talks with the Premier League side.

Jansen told AD.nl: "We are in talks with Chelsea. Of course Marco wants to battle for his chances, but there must be a sort of perspective.

"Monday evening wasn't that pretty to see. We are now waiting for an answer on Chelsea and their vision."

Van Ginkel missed the majority of the last campaign with a serious knee injury.
